ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Find answers to the most common questions about Weekly Brief Challenges, Pro Design Briefs, and how to submit a Sponsored Brief.

General

What is BRANDBRIEF™?

BRANDBRIEF™ is a global platform for brand designers. Designers use it to access real creative briefs, compete in weekly design challenges, and build their portfolio. Clients use it to post Sponsored Briefs and receive design proposals from professional designers worldwide. BRANDBRIEF™ has been active since 2022.

Is BRANDBRIEF™ free to use?

Yes. Weekly challenges and the Brief Generator are free. Free briefs give you the full creative challenge. The paid brief pack adds brand strategy, personas, competitive landscape, and visual direction — everything a real client would tell you before you start designing.

Who is BRANDBRIEF™ for?

BRANDBRIEF™ is built for brand designers at every level — students building their first portfolio, freelancers looking for consistent practice, and professionals who want to keep their skills sharp. Clients and brands also use BRANDBRIEF™ to post Sponsored Briefs.

Where is BRANDBRIEF™ based?

BRANDBRIEF™ is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. The platform and community are global — designers from 50+ countries participate in weekly challenges and submit to client briefs.

How long has BRANDBRIEF™ been active?

BRANDBRIEF™ has been active since 2022. We started with one brief per week on Instagram and have grown into a global platform for brand designers.

Weekly Challenges

How do I participate in a weekly challenge?

Follow @brandbrief on Instagram. Every Monday, a new design brief goes live. You have one week to complete your design and post it on Instagram tagging @brandbrief with #brandbrief. The best submissions get featured on the BRANDBRIEF™ feed.

Is it free to enter a weekly challenge?

Yes. Weekly challenges are completely free to enter. You need an Instagram account and a design tool — nothing else.

What tools can I use?

Any design tool you prefer — Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, Affinity Designer. The brief specifies the deliverable, not the software.

How are winners selected?

Every week, the BRANDBRIEF™ judges select the four strongest submissions — based on concept, execution, and relevance to the brief. The four finalists go into an Instagram story vote where the BRANDBRIEF™ community picks the winner. The winning designer gets featured on the feed — in front of clients and creative directors worldwide.

Can I submit to past weekly challenges?

Yes. All past briefs are available in the archive. You can work on any brief at any time — but only current-week submissions are eligible for featuring on the Instagram feed.

Design Briefs & Packs

What is included in a full Design Brief?

A full BRANDBRIEF™ Design Brief includes: the creative challenge, brand positioning statement, two detailed personas, competitive landscape analysis, visual direction with references, color and typography rationale, and a strategic no-go. This is everything a real client would brief you on before starting a project.

What is the difference between the free brief and the full brief?

The free brief gives you the complete creative challenge — brand context, deliverable, target audience, tone, and a hard constraint. The full brief adds the strategic layer: brand positioning, personas, competitive landscape, visual direction, and the one design direction you should never take. The free brief lets you solve the challenge. The full brief tells you how to solve it right.

How much does a Design Brief cost?

Individual Design Brief Packs start from €40–60. Bundle packs are available from €80–100. Each pack includes multiple briefs with full brand strategy, personas, and visual direction.

Do I need professional experience to use the briefs?

No. BRANDBRIEF™ briefs are written for designers at every level — students, career switchers, self-taught designers, and professionals. The briefs are challenging enough to push experienced designers and accessible enough for beginners.

Sponsored Briefs

What is a Sponsored Brief?

A Sponsored Brief is posted by a real client — a brand, founder, or company — who wants to see design concepts for their brand. BRANDBRIEF™ distributes the brief to professional designers worldwide. Designers submit their work. The client reviews all submissions and selects the winner to develop the project further.

What does a client receive from a Sponsored Brief?

Clients receive a professionally structured creative brief, distribution to brand designers worldwide, and multiple real design submissions to review. After the challenge closes, the client chooses the designer whose work fits their vision best — and takes the project forward directly with them. We recommend both sides secure the collaboration with a contract before starting.

How do I submit a Sponsored Brief?

Click 'Book a Brief' in the navigation. You'll go through a short intake to define your brand, audience, and deliverable. BRANDBRIEF™ structures the brief professionally and distributes it to the designer community. After the challenge, you review the submissions and decide who you want to work with.

Can designers make money on BRANDBRIEF™?

Yes — if a client chooses to continue working with you after the Sponsored Brief challenge, you negotiate the project directly with them. The Sponsored Brief fee goes to BRANDBRIEF™ to run the platform and the challenge. Weekly challenges have no direct monetary prize, but featured designers regularly receive client inquiries from the visibility.

Brief Generator

What is the BRANDBRIEF™ Brief Generator?

The Brief Generator is a free tool that creates random design brief ideas instantly. It generates fictional brand concepts across different industries, styles, and tones — useful for warming up, exploring unfamiliar creative territories, and generating ideas when you're stuck. It is not a substitute for a full realistic brief.

How many combinations does the Brief Generator have?

The BRANDBRIEF™ Brief Generator can produce over 300 million different Design Brief combinations. Each generation creates a unique fictional brand concept.

Is the Brief Generator free?

Yes. The Brief Generator is completely free to use, with no account required. For a full brief with brand strategy, personas, and visual direction, browse our curated Design Brief Packs.
